The facility is intended for use wholly or partly in connection with the movement, loading, unloading, maintenance or provisioning of security-regulated ships, the boundaries of which are shown in the maps below.
Under Section 15 of the Customs Act 1901, OMSB has also been appointed for ships that engage in commercial activities other than loading and unloading of containerised cargo.
We’re working closely with the Australian Border Force (ABF) and the Federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) to certify OMSB as a First Port of Entry – which will enable us to load and unload all types of containerised cargo. In the meantime, the ABF and DAFF can consider and approve specific containerised cargo loading and unloading at OMSB on a case-by-case basis.
